Since 2010, The Hong Kong Society for the Aged (SAGE) has been funded by The Community Chest of Hong Kong to implement the "Blissful Care" program for community detection and comprehensive support for dementia. This has established a "Dementia Detection and Support Professional Team" to provide one-stop community detection, assessment, referral, support services, and professional training for day service units. This supports elderly people who are suspected or confirmed to have dementia and their caregivers. This program, through this website, increases public awareness of dementia. It provides the public and caregivers with methods to prevent elderly people from going missing and allows caregivers to create a missing information form for elderly people at risk of missing as early as possible through the website platform.
Any person with memory or cognitive impairment and the ability to move is at risk of missing. Depending on the patient's degree of cognitive impairment and physical degeneration, in the absence of care, missing can pose considerable dangers to the patient, such as falls, getting lost, traffic accidents, and life-threatening situations due to a long-term lack of medication. All these become a heavy caregiving burden for the caregiver.
This website will provide caregivers with the following information: the causes of an elderly's missing, strategies for preventing missing and finding the elderly. It is recommended that caregivers use this website to conduct early detection for the elderly, customize items to prevent them from missing, and establish an elderly information sheet in advance. This preparation allows the missing elderly to feel comfortable and return home safely under sufficient protection.
