Inactivity at home is one of the causes of wandering. Some caregivers try to avoid wandering by emphasizing that elders should stay at home and avoid going out, but this is usually ineffective. If elders are left at home with nothing to do, boredom, lack of stimulation, and loss of concentration, they will tend to look around for ways to pass the time, resulting in wandering. Forcing them to participate in activities they do not like and to stay in stuffy places will easily cause fidgeting and anxiety, and the risk of wandering will be higher.
