As the saying goes, “prevention is better than cure”, we should not wait until we realize that a person with cognitive impairment has lost his/her way before we start to plan for how to help him/her. People with early stage of cognitive impairment may still be able to go out on their own and recognize their way home, but this does not mean that their ability to do so will not deteriorate over time. Therefore, it is important to put the emergency contact information in the elderly's belongings (e.g. wallets, handbags, etc.) as early as possible, so that in case of loss, it will help our loved ones to locate the elderly as soon as possible.
